Barbara Aksamit

Barbara Aksamit has been a licensed Realtor since 2009 and a resident of Houston, where she lives in the Museum District, since 1997. She specializes in inside the loop properties, as well as foreclosures in Galveston county, where she has been buying and selling foreclosure property since 2004.

For 15 years as a stay-at-home mom to her two daughters, Barbara was a community activist, a role she continues today, and she developed a familiarity with many private and public schools in the Houston area. She has renovated many homes over the years and has a keen eye for detail, as well as an innate talent for effectively marketing properties.

Holding a business-administration degree from Florida State University, Barbara chose a career in real estate because she is passionate about making a difference in the world. “I work tirelessly to help clients find what they are looking for in a home,” she says. Her clients praise her determination, straightforwardness, positive attitude and friendliness. “I’ve never met a stranger,” says Barbara.

Conversational in Spanish, Barbara is involved with the community as a member of the Hashoo Foundation USA Board, the Lamar Business Resource Council and the Museum Area Municipal Association, among other organizations, and as the founder of Houston Woman Aide, which has benefitted hundreds of local families. She also serves on the International Board of the Kalahari Children’s Home Foundation, based in Botswana, Africa. Barbara cares deeply about the local parks and recreational options in Houston and the greater area. Her hobbies include cooking, traveling, sailing and mountain-climbing—over the past several years, she has delivered medical supplies in India, Cuba, Guatemala, Africa, Mexico, Thailand and Nepal.
