Are you Paying Rent?

If you are paying rent you are building someone else's wealth. Why not build your own?

Let's be honest. Renting these days is expensive. If you rent a house for $2000 you are shelling out $24,000 per year to a land lord to pay their mortgage, taxes, and insurance. That's a lot of dinero!

According to the HAR MLS, the average rental cost in Houston in May 2019 was $1800/month. In May of 2023 the HAR reported rent had increased to $2250/month. Fortunately, we are seeing a stabilization of costs for renters it seems since interest rates are slightly slowing house sales. https://www.har.com/blog_113337_houston-rental-market-in-may-2023

If you have a good credit score, stable job, moderate DTI, and some money to put down or at least pay closing costs, you are likely a good candidate for buying a home.
