best way would be to ask a realtor. Good luck.

No easy way unless the realtor highlights it. I would do it to drive interest and value of the house.

Hi Kristine,
Although there is a search criteria you can use in the search section, it is not always well filled out by agents. Certain neighboorhoods/builders are more prone to having in-law quarters. For example David Weekly is a builder who has a great floorplan with a 'casita' or in law quarter.
I have an in law quarter in my own house so I have researched this subject well.
Let me know if I can help.

Realtors have access to the most up to date and comprehensive information on available properties, in addition to knowledge of the area and homes that may not even be listed yet. Kelly Jackson REMAX Southwest 281-207-5068

Hi Kristine,

There is no best way to search for this as a consumer. Consider contacting a REALTOR to assist you with your home search.

Darby is correct. That might be hard to do because it really depends on how the listing was set up.

Hi Kristine,

That is a great question and a very important part of your search criteria. If you go to har.com, under the "Find a Home" tab click on Single Family. Toward the middle of the page under the Rooms section there is a box for Has Garage Apartment / Guest House. That will show you some properties. However, this is dependent on how agent's put the listing in the system. It could limit you in your search and you may find that not a lot of properties come up.

Your best bet is going to be to enlist the assistance of a realtor. We are able to go in and up more specific searches for our clients with more options. Part of what your realtor can do is discuss what exactly you are looking for (specifically the type of quarters you are looking for) and filter the properties for you and only send you the most relevant properties as soon as they hit the market!

If I can be of any assistance please feel free to call, text, or shoot me an email. I'd be happy to this up for you!
