I've been fortunate to grow up in Katy, Texas. My family has lived in Katy since the late 1800s. Having been raised in Katy and having seen firsthand the growth in west Houston, gives me unique knowledge and insight I can share with clients. The cleaner your home the better and also important to declutter. Clear off counters in kitchens and baths. Remove items from tops of furniture. Clean floors. Be sure your front porch & entry are clear of debris, bugs, dirt, spider webs. Open blinds and turn on lights so home appears bright and welcoming. Spruce up flowerbeds by clearing weeds and adding mulch to beds. Mow, weed eat and prune hedges that may be overgrown. Think of what a model home looks like in a neighborhood and try to copy this look in your home.
A clean, well maintained home will always appeal to more buyers and sell more quickly than one with needed repairs/updates. Do some research about what homes in your area are expected to have to sell quickly - look at photos on HAR, Trulia or Zillow to help you compare features. As a general rule - fresh paint in neutral shades will add the biggest bang for the buck. Clean flooring is also a plus - clean or replace carpeting if dirty or stained before putting on the market to make the best impression with buyers.
