Creating A First Aid Kit For Your Home

A lot goes into making sure your home is safe for your family. But one of the easiest ways to be prepared is creating a first-aid kit with the essentials you’ll need in the event of an emergency. Here’s where to start:
Carrying Case
You’ll want a case that’s transportable and durable. A cloth kit allows for more flexible storage, and newer models are even water-resistant.
Bandages
An assortment of styles and sizes in large quantities is your best bet when it comes to bandages. You’ll also want tape, gauze, and fabric rolls to wrap around joints.
Medicine
If anyone in your family requires special medication, like insulin or epinephrine, you’ll want to stock your first-aid kit in case of emergency. It’s also important to have over-the-counter antibiotic ointment, pain reliever, antihistamines, sunscreen, and alcohol wipes. Just keep in mind most medications have an expiration date, and you’ll need to replace your items periodically.
Extras
In addition to all of the above, consider including tweezers, scissors, duct tape, a multi-tool, flashlights, batteries, non-latex gloves, and a thermometer.
