Walker County Texas

Huntsville or Walker Cty is located in the eastern central section of the state of Texas.

The county seat and largest city is Huntsville, and named in honor of Texas Ranger and soldier in the United States Army, Samuel H. Walker.   When you are driving into Huntsville, about 1 mile before you can see the huge statue of Sam on the right side of Hwy. 45 N.  Walker Cty also comprises the Huntsville, Tx. Micropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Houston - The Woodlands, Tx. Combined Statistical Area.

The is plenty to see and do here in Walker Cty.  We have a beautiful State Park and it is gorgeous!

We also have an Olympic size 14,000,000. dollar swimming pool donated by the Whistler House on FM 247.

We have an old fashioned theater still in use and many more things to do in Huntsville.  It seems there is an event almost every weekend downtown or at the Walker County Fairgrounds.
